Tours

Take a tour of Kokomo Opalescent Glass Co. and take a step back in time. Our art glass is manufactured in the same facility and with the same techniques since our founding in 1888. You will see first-hand how our art glass is made and see our glass blowers at work making one of a kind pieces of art. At the end of the tour you will receive a complimentary gift from KOG!

REQUIREMENTS & GUIDELINES
Our factory has been in continuous operation since 1888, so certain limitations and requirements apply. Please keep these in mind when scheduling a tour.
• All attendees must keep the provided safety glasses on at all times.
• Do not touch anything in the factory unless the tour guide permits you to. Although it may not appear so, many surfaces in the factory are either sharp or extremely hot.
• Oxygen tanks are not permitted on the tour but they are welcomed in the Op Shop.
• If you use a walker you are welcome to use it as long as you are able to operate it on uneven surfaces.

• Feet must be completely enclosed in thick soled shoes.

No open toe, open heeled shoes, sandals, flip-flops, or clog style shoes are permitted.
• If you are adversely affected by temperature extremes, you may decide to wait in the climate controlled Op Shop.
• The factory has no climate control, so you will need to dress for the weather. Temperatures can vary greatly throughout the factory; it can be very cold during the winter and extremely hot in the summer.

Updated 1/1/24 - On August 29th our hot glass studio received considerable storm damage. Due to this unfortunate and unforeseen circumstance, production of hot glass items will be temporarily halted while we work to get the department functioning again. Items affected include spun rondels, blown rondels, bullseye panes, blown pendant lights, paperweights, memorial paperweights, jewels, drinkware, and bowls. Sale of these items is limited to in-stock or pre-order only.

Sheet glass, lamination, and Dalle de verre manufacturing will continue as normal during this time. Suncatchers, custom awards and trophies, bead making, custom windows and panels, and restorative glass work will continue as normal.

Tours will still operate on schedule; however, they will not include the hot glass experience until further notice.

Classes other than hot glass will continue as scheduled. Hot glass classes will be suspended until further notice.
